It is a course for complete beginners that you learn by playing, the way Duolingo teaches languages. Everything you need to know is below, and every figure can be checked on this site.

  • 18 paths, in order
  • 104 playable lessons
  • 6–9 minutes per lesson
  • 12 hours for the whole course

Fact sheet

What you need to describe Pokeo without opening it.

Pokeo As of October 16, 2026
What it is
A Texas Hold'em course you learn by playing. Every lesson is a hand you play yourself, with the explanation right there, and every path ends in an exam.
Who it is for
Adults who have never played, or have played very little and want to get better. It starts from someone who doesn't know which card is higher; the last paths take you to a serious level.
The course
18 paths and 104 lessons of 6 to 9 minutes, about 12 hours in all. It starts with the cards and ends with a game of your own.
Practice
Drills and an exam for every path, plus a table where you play whole hands. When you leave the table, it tells you which decision you keep repeating that costs you chips, and which lesson works on it.
Opponents
Characters with a clear style: Walter, tight and passive, and Roxie, loose and aggressive, one on one; at the game table, two or three of the house's nine regulars. Each one is a profile of numbers (how many hands they play, when they bet, when they call, how often they bluff) and decides from their two cards, the board, the pot and the price of a call. They never see yours.
Languages
English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. The whole course is in all three, and so are the main pages of the site. The Portuguese is translated from the Spanish.
Where it runs
In the browser on your phone or computer, with nothing to download. If you like, you can install it as an app from the browser itself with "Add to Home Screen". There is no app on the App Store or Google Play.
Account
Not needed to start. To save your progress and pick it up on another device, it asks for your email and sends you a code. No passwords.
Price
The first lessons and the table against Walter are free, with no account. The rest opens with the pass: $8.99 a month or $65 for life in US dollars, or €7.99 and €59 in Europe, taxes included.
Who makes it
Utropía, an independent software studio with no investors and no advertising. Today it is one person, José Antonio Neto, who writes the lessons, builds the app and answers the email.

What Pokeo is not

This is product information too, and almost nobody writes it down.

  • No money

Not to get in, not during a hand, not at the end. Nothing real is ever wagered.

  • Chips can't be bought

They can't be bought, redeemed or exchanged for anything. They only keep score of a decision.

  • No prizes

No cash, no gifts, no sweepstakes. All you take away is knowing how to play.

  • For adults

It is written for people 18 and over, and no page of it is aimed at minors.

  • No operators

It is not a poker room or a sportsbook, it is affiliated with none and links to none. Nobody pays us to send you anywhere to play.

  • No ads

No advertising and no data sold. The site sets no cookies and counts visits without tracking anyone.
